What are Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs)?
- Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs)
- Non-profit 501(c)(3) entities that receive donations to provide educational scholarships to eligible K-12 students. While they have traditionally operated through state-level programs, the recent “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA) introduced a new federal tax credit for contributors, significantly expanding their impact.
- Current Colorado SGOs (Currently NOT a part of the Federal program, SGOs will be appointed by the Governor by Jan. 2027)
- ACE Scholarships: Operate nationally, providing need-based scholarships to lower-income families in states such as Colorado, Kansas, and Louisiana. ACE Scholarships have provided scholarships to private schools accredited by the Association of Classical Christian Schools, listed on the Turning Point Education Association website. The Association of Classical Christian Schools was founded by Doug Wilson in 1993.
- Parents Challenge: Primarily serving the Pikes Peak region, this organization recently expanded to include Teller and Pueblo Counties.
