Spinning the truth, that is one thing that Moms for Liberty has mastered. Moms for Liberty recently announced a partnership with the “nonpartisan” organization Freedom 250. While the list of Freedom 250 Founding Government Members can be described as nonpartisan, government agencies should be nonpartisan; the list of Freedom 250 Partners is anything but. At best, the Freedom 250 organization is a libertarian/conservative bi-partisan organization.

Freedom 250 is the official national initiative leading the celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. Launched by President Trump in late 2025, it serves as a public-private partnership that coordinates national and local efforts to commemorate America’s founding on July 4, 1776. The Freedom 250 website states that the organization is “nonpartisan” and is leading the celebration of our Nation’s 250th birthday. However, the list of Freedom 250 partners is proving not to be non-partisan.

American Cornerstone Institute, an organization founded in 2021 by Dr. Ben Carson. The institute serves as a conservative think tank dedicated to restoring and promoting what it identifies as the four core principles of American greatness: Faith, Liberty, Community, and Life. The American Cornerstone Institute developed the Little Patriots platform as a free resource to teach K-5 students civics, history, and American values, grounded in the four “cornerstones” of faith, liberty, community, and life.
American First Policy Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank that advances the “America First” agenda. The staff includes the former Trump administration cabinet members and senior officials. In November 2023, America First Policy Institute and Colorado Parent Advocacy Network filed an open records request in the Cherry Creek School District. They accused Cherry Creek Schools of ‘conspiring against parents concerned about critical race theory’.
Americans for Prosperity, a powerful conservative and libertarian-leaning political advocacy group in the United States. Founded in 2004 by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, it serves as a primary vehicle for their political activism. AFP was heavily involved in the 2015 Jefferson County School Board recall, defending the conservative school board directors.
Hillsdale College, a conservative Christian College based in Michigan, created and released The Hillsdale 1776 Curriculum after President Biden dissolved the federal 1776 Commission. Hillsdale has also partnered with the White House to tell the ‘Story of America’ in a series of videos ahead of the 250th anniversary. The President of Hillsdale College, Larry Arnn, received an award from the Colorado-based State Policy Network associate member, The Steamboat Institute. Larry Arnn is quoted as saying that teachers come from “the dumbest parts of the dumbest colleges,” that “diversity” candidates get education degrees because “you don’t have to know anything,” and that no expertise is required to teach a child because “anybody can do it “.
Moms for America, a national conservative non-profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on cultural and political advocacy through the perspective of motherhood. It positions itself as a “support group” for mothers seeking to promote principles of liberty, the Constitution, and traditional family values in their homes and communities. Ohioresident Kelly Kohls, a conservative school board activist and a Senior Director School Boards Leadership Project for Moms For America, filed a lawsuit against the Colorado Falcon District 49 school board in 2023. In addition, Sherronna Bishop, often known as “America’s Mom,” and a speaker and collaborator for Moms for America, spoke on behalf of former Garfield Re-2 school board director Tony May, who was recalled after his support for American Birthright Social Studies Standards.
Prager U, a conservative media nonprofit that produces short videos and educational materials promoting pro-American, pro-capitalist, and Judeo-Christian values.
Freedom 250 Sponsors
The list of Freedom 250 sponsors includes Exxon Mobil, Deloitte, Mastercard, etc. Interestingly, one of the Freedom 250 Sponsors includes Colorado-based Palentir founded by Peter Theil, a libertarian tech billionaire.
Freedom 250 Teacher Toolkit
The Freedom 250 website features a Teacher Toolkit with several suggestions for K-12 schools. Among the suggestions are flying the 1776 flag and/or including it in Color Guard ceremonies (according to the toolkit, a new flag for the 250th anniversary will be available soon) and encouraging schools to recite the Pledge every day, which public schools already do. Elementary & Middle School teachers are encouraged to have students memorize the Declaration of Independence, and schools are encouraged to host a recitation event for parents to attend. The Teacher Toolkit also recommends that high school teachers show the Story of America video series created by Hillsdale College, and have High School students participate in the Patriot Games. Trump likes to feed his ego by presiding over sporting events like a King. The Freedom 250 Teacher Toolkit is available for download from the Freedom 250 website.
Final Thoughts
What are the true intentions behind these actions? Is it really to celebrate our country’s founding, or is the intention to boost the President’s ego, or an attack on public schools, which are frequently accused of indoctrinating students? Burdening schools and teachers with additional responsibilities and attempting to mandate patriotism will not cultivate genuine patriots. If any of these organizations actually believed in personal freedom, they would understand that patriotism is a personal belief, not something to be dictated by Moms for Liberty or any other organization.
